~ MMA SCRAP LIVE: FIGHT NIGHT VII: BAD INTENTIONS was held last night, at the LJVM Coliseum Annex in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. In the main event, former UFC fighters Rodney “Sho Nuff the Master” Wallace (11-4) and Cale Yarbrough (8-3) fought to a 15-minute decision with Wallace’s hand raised in victory at the end. Both men combined lost all of their UFC bouts.
~ Wednesday night’s debut of “UFC Primetime: St-Pierre vs. Shields,” which previews the UFC 129 main event on April 30 between current UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre and top contender Jake Shields, drew 610,000 viewers to Spike TV. The three-part “UFC Primetime: St-Pierre vs. Shields” series debuts new episodes each Wednesday night (early Thursday) at midnight ET/PT. Replays air throughout the week on Spike TV and Fuel TV.
~ UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones (13-1 MMA, 7-1 UFC) is inviting one lucky fan to train alongside him at Jackson-Winkeljohn Mixed Martial Arts. The Learning Links Foundation of Miami is now accepting online bids for a VIP package that includes a two-day training session with “Bones,” as well as lodging, airfare and ground transportation. The bidding closes Saturday, April 16, at 12 p.m. ET, and the proceeds benefit the Learning Links Foundation, a non-profit organization that aims to help children with autism.
~ “The Ultimate Fighter 11″ cast member Jamie Yager (3-2) has been forced to withdraw from a planned Tachi Palace Fights 9 bout with Alan Jouban (1-0), and in his place steps Chidi Njokuani (4-2). A potent striker with four first-round stoppages to his credit, Njokuani is the younger brother of current UFC lightweight Anthony Njokuani. Featuring a flyweight matchup between top contenders Ian McCall and Dustin Ortiz, Tachi Palace Fights 9 takes place May 6 at the Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino in Lemoore, Calif.
~ Keep an eye out for Strikeforce Welterweight Champion Nick Diaz in the news, who claims he wants to have a boxing match as his next fighting venture. Diaz has won 10 straight fight in MMA. He has signed to box Fernando Vargas, but he’s open to also box Sergio Martinez, the former WBC Super Welterweight Champion.
