  1. I have not spent a dime on the WWE since Wrestlemania 20… and I mean NOT A DIME, until tonight.

Tonight only reinforced WHY I don’t pay for anything that has to do with the WWE anymore. The crowd was so dead and so sick of seeing the same boring routine over and over again.

TNA guys got a bigger pop than ANYONE on the roster. Booker & Diesel got huge ovations, and the only chant you could hear on TV at all through the whole night was for Kevin Nash.

WWE is going to fall on very hard times if they don’t stop this idiotic booking, this is looking like WCW all over again!

    And…. Alberto?

Are you kidding me? He’s been on TV a few months, has had ZERO note-worthy matches, and has said the same thing on the mic week in and week out since his debut!

I spent 10 years on the Indy circuit, and quit wrestling last year because of this same type of booking; Giving the guys who don’t deserve it all the attention.

  2. Matt says:

Alberto Del Rio changes things up but I don’t think a lot of people would pay to see him in a main event. Booker T and Kevin “Diesel” Nash got huge pops and even if it’s only for one night, they were awesome. Booker should have got more time in the ring and Nash looked old, but the reaction they got was priceless. And John Cena is just getting ridiculous.. Nexus dominates and then he eliminates the entire group? Come on.. I’m glad he didn’t win the Rumble but it looks like he is probably going to face Miz at Wrestlemania anyway.

  3. Sonia says:

I agree. What a farce! Del Rio sucks and doesn’t deserve to headline WM what a joke. Well i won’t be buying WM. Bet they do an angle on the next PPV where Del Rio loses his WM headline spot to a more note worthy superstar. Anyone want to take the bet?

  4. n8tivegoat says:

DESTINY? should of seen this one coming all along-del rio moving to RAW? hope so!! would be a great turn to face for del rio!!!

  5. Rex Anderson says:

Im really pissed. That man didnt do a damn thing. He stole Eddie’s car, Marlon Brando’s scarf, Cody Rhodes dumb knee pad idea, picked little Rey Mysterio, and won the Royal Rumble. Hell might as well let Hornswoggle win. This is sad, just damn sad

  6. jacob says:

So Miz, who isn’t even IN the Rumble match leaves the commentary desk, hops in the ring and eliminates Cena? And NO ONE be it referees or commentators have the common sense to realize that he can’t be eliminated by someone who is already eliminated from or not even in the match? ’97 Rumble when Vader went ape sh!t after being eliminated and started throwing everyone out, distracting the referees at ringside allowing Austin to sneak back into the ring after being tossed over unknowingly, anyone?

I’m all for making things unpredictable like making it 40-man and surprise guests, and definitely going with a shock winner but Del Rio? He’s been there long enough to learn how to make Vince McMahon’s coffee, and he’s the supposed headliner for Wrestlemania? He’s talented and entertaining, I’ll give him that, but winning the Rumble only three months after debuting? Gimme a break. Anyone wanna take bets on who really headlines? Taker v ‘??’? Cena v Miz? Because surely Vince

So glad I didn’t piss my money away on this one. What a waste. Yet another uneventful Royal Rumble this one was, and yet another hardly entertaining start on the Road to Wrestlemania.isn’t banking on Del Rio’s name to sell the biggest show of the year.

  7. Ryno says:

Called Del Rio winning the rumble a long time ago. Glad to see he’s got his opportunity. Del Rio is going to be an awesome headliner to Wrestlemania :)

  8. mma kid says:

im not a del rio fan but better then Cena to win it.I hardly watch wrestling like hardly, but im a huge john morrison fan and that spiderman thing he did was awesome! i wanted him to win and they didnt even keep him until the end he last like 15 minutes out there he should be headlining wrestlemania hes paid his dues. barrett also should have won over del rio. barrett and edge would be a great match

  9. Anthony says:

now only Mysterio has to win smackdown’s elimination chamber and we can have Mysterio vs Del Rio yet again, but this time at WM for the WHC. Either that or Del Rio vs Miz or Edge. Either way, I’m glad I can go to any bar in town and watch WM because there is zero chance I’m paying to watch the joke they’re turning it into this year.

  10. Jon says:

I didn’t really like the face that Alberto won but at least WWE is trying someone new. The worst moment for me was when Hornswoggle came out. If Wade had come out instead of him it would’ve been epic but he ruined the potential for a Wade vs Punk vs Cena match! On the plus side, Morrison’s save was pretty cool, letting Punk dominate the first part was brilliant, and because I didn’t read any of the rumors going in to Rumble I almost had a lock jaw when Nash came out! I got used to his gray hair that I was shocked seeing him with black hair again and felt that I had entered a time warp somehow. It wasn’t the best rumble and the beginning half of the rumble match had so much potential but at least WWE is trying to push new faces

  11. CharleyNewports says:

I’m actually suprised at the reactions that both Nash and Booker got. Considering how dead the crowd was when Bret Hart made his return, this certainly shocks me. Regardless, I’m glad that both Booker and Nash did return, and I’m even more happy that they were over HUGE. Both Booker and Nash did appear to have botched spots in the match, but I blame the guys in the ring. Why? Veterans that know what they’re doing as opposed to rookies who have never been involved in a crowd reaction like that, so it’s only fitting for the rookies to slip up a little.

My first Pay Per View bought since WrestleMania in ’08, and will I say that I won’t buy another? No, but Del Rio winning was a let down. I’d much rather have seen Santino win the Rumble instead of this Spanish JBL ripoff win it. If Santino did, it would DEFINATELY make wrestling more interesting when it comes to entertainment.

  12. Kevin says:

WrestleMania is supposed to be the “Showcase of the Immortals”, not their training grounds. I’m all for WWE changing it up and trying new things but the WrestleMania main event is not the place to experiment. Especially when they are trying to sell 60 to 70,000 seats.

  13. Kyle Christie says:

I liked it it’s 5.46 where i live (Scotland) and i have to get up in an hour 2 get a bus 2 work but i don’t care the Royal Rumble was awesome. People complained when it was Cena/Orton/HHH etc all the time now people complain when it’s Alberto Del Rio a new guy. I think it will be interesting to see what happens from now to the Elimination Chamber can’t wait 😀 😀 😀

  14. Will says:

To “Anthony”: WHAT are you talking about? It’s hard to take your rant seriously when it’s obviously biased. To say the crowd was dead is just flat out wrong, and obviously you weren’t paying attention if you missed the “Let’s go Ziggler” chants in the first match.

Anyway, great PPV. Alberto winning is one of the best things WWE’s done in a long time. WWE needed to reach out to their Hispanic fans more, and to give new talent a push to the top, and with Alberto Del Rio’s win they’ve done both.

  15. AwesomeWill says:

All of the comments on this page are reminding me why I avoid wrestling talk with internet fans. They hate everything and have no clue what they’re talking about.

Alberto Del Rio winning is the best thing WWE’s done in a long, long time.

  16. mma kid says:

just cause del rio won doesnt mean he is going to be the headliner… who knows what can happen. here are my predicted matches for mania so far…

    WWE Title
    Cena vs. Miz

    Edge vs. Del Rio

    Orton vs. Punk

    Mysterio vs. Kane

Taker wont be wrestling this year from what ive heard he wont be ready…if he does i see him facing barrett in a very short match.

  17. Eric says:

KOFI SHOULDVE WON DAMMIT…he better win money in the bank…and as for Del Rio…he will make a great headliner someday…John Morrison has paid his dues with the company so he couldve been a good choice…why is JTG still around??

  18. christian says:

congratulations del rio!! anyway the worst part of the rumble was how nexus was just plainly dominating and here comes super cena and eliminates every nexus member what the !*!%^ is up with that c^ap

  19. Riten says:

Del Rio Winning Was Great, The Rumble Match Itself Was Awesome, Got Me And My Mates On The End Of The Lounge, Specially When Nash & Booker Came Back In. Me And My Mate Guessed Del Rio To Win, And Predicted The Cena Vs Miz At Mania. Only Thing That Was Disapointing Was The Hole – No Awesome Kong Or HHH Or Anymore Surprise’s. Never The Less WWE Holds A Strong 9/10. Royal Rumble Will Be Great If They Have Alot Of Surprises.

  20. MiZery says:

I honestly think they’ve been downplaying Del Rios wrestling ability to lead to a storline where he trains with maybe the most famous wrestler in Mexico… His wrestling ability improves, maybe a more Lucha influence… Leading to headlining against Mysterio… So many possibilities, but there has to be substance to him winning that match, I didn’t watch it… Only read the results here and just reading it sounded amazing in the beginning but Cena ruined it for me…lol… Then again, I’m probably wrong, but you have to admit… It would be an interesting storyline

  21. MiZery says:

CORRECTION : One of the biggest stars in Mexico, not a nit picky person… But didn’t feel right overselling it like that… LoL, but either way the Hispanic viewership would definitely show a great deal of improvement if WWE was smart and booked the lead up to Wrestlemania like that… Hell I could watch a best 2 out of 3 falls match with Sterio and Rio’s if there’s more to him than the same old song and dance we see every week, I even enjoy his mic skills… he does the same bit everytime, but it’s entertaining… But his personal announcer, that guy should just stop

  22. T says:

Adding two washed up TNA guys for surprises? Funny how WWE fanboys ripped TNA for having Nash and Booker but yet embrace them upon their return. Oh well same thing happened with Hogan when he returned after WCW died.

Super Cena eliminating all of Nexus? Hornswoggle? Alberto winning? I would have rather seen Santino win it. I just can’t see a Miz vs Alberto main event headlining WM. Where was Kong? Maybe on Raw Monday night?

I am slowly losing interest in wrestling these days…

  23. Michele Z says:

I was debating ordering the Rumble, mainly for the title matches but I’m so glad I didn’t waste my money. I cannot stress enough how much I can’t stand Del Rio and I don’t get why they keep pushing him. He does absolutely nothing for me.

  24. Stijn says:

Everyone hating on Del Rio : you do realize he was/is (deservingly so) a HUGE star in Mexico?
He has always been a big draw over in Mexico. He can actually wrestle, carry almost everyone and sell a good match.
I love how finally WWE uses a new face to win the rumble, i don’ t think a lot of people saw this coming.
    Viva Del Rio!
Would love to see Del Rio at WM against Edge or HHH (if he would return at EC)

  25. brandon says:

only good things about last night: Edge, Eve, Booker and Nash
