Cena claims WWE fined him for Raw slip up

John Cena on Twitter claimed he was fined for using bad language during his promo on CM Punk. He said “ass” which has been a banned word on live shows since Raw went PG. He wrote that he was frustrated with injury and couldn’t wrestle, which is funny because he worked a dark match after the show went off the air.

    Cena is a great worker, he being fined for using “bad language” just proves how hard he is working, whether its in the ring or out of the ring.

  2. James says:

    I don’t like the Cena character but I respect the man. However, if they actually went out and listened to what little kids were saying instead of trying to be the old PG, the new PG would sound alot different, for one the word “ass” would not be banned. Heck alot of the “banned” words are spoken by kids in their sentences everyday.

    PG era makes no sense since kids aren’t PG these days.

    I know people love to knock Cena, but hey, the guy gives 100% every time he’s in the ring. Yes, the WWE might have overused him in the past, and people got tired of seeing him with the belt, but that’s no different than when Vince used to parade out Stone Cold or the Rock every week, and no one tired of them. Of course, that was the attitude generation, and many of those fans are grown up now and still follow wrestling, but it’s not the same product that it was 10 years ago, therefore, they boo Cena, because they are used to the old attitude WWE, not the PG version.

  4. Heywood Jablome says:

    ass ass ass ass ass ass ass ass

  5. IronHyde says:

    Btw, WWE.. “ass” isn’t technically a curse word.

  6. AJ Starr says:

    So, does the WWE fine itself for allowing the word “ass” to appear in the Heenan DVD commercial THEY produced?

  7. Wes says:

    Hell, Nickelodeon has kids say ass on it. You can’t go more PG than Nick.

  8. rossco says:

    Sheamus said Arse when he cut a promo on Randy Orton in the build up to Hell in a Cell.

  9. Big Tony says:

    What was the fine, A dollar in the swear-jar?

  10. Gurn Blanstid says:

    CULO, Culo, culo, culo, culo!!!!!

  11. N. Gaijin says:

    Agreed. I can’t stand when he’s “Super Cena”, but still, very valid points.

    @AJ Starr

    I don’t think it’s really hypocrisy. That would be like saying “since Legendary has swearing in it, and WWe produced it, they’re a big bunch of hypocrites”, which simply isn’t true. The DVDs (wrestling or no) are separate products and rated differently. I don’t know what the Heenan DVD is rated, but Legendary, for example, is rated PG-13 and has content that wouldn’t be allowed on WWe television. The real point is, it’s not hypocrisy until WWe presents a double-standard. If they air a wrestling program with the word “ass” in it (like say if they aired one of those retro montages for the HOF or whatever and someone says “ass” in it), or someone says ass and isn’t fined – that’s hypocrisy.

    I didn’t catch that, but I’d be interested to learn if Sheamus was fined or not. Who knows, maybe WWe is banking on fans and parents of fans thinking “arse” is an odd euphemism instead of learning that that’s the way they say “ass” over in the UK.

    @Big Tony
    Good one. Truth be told, since this is Cena’s twitter, and he has been known to kayfabe (Juan Cena, anyone?), I’m really curious if this is just a PR move. I highly doubt WWe would fine their poster boy, but at the same time, I’m sure the WWe doesn’t want people to think that someone isn’t protecting their children’s virgin ears from such awful words. Regardless, I think Cena using the word, added genuine quality to the promo that improved it quite a bit (especially after using that especially heinous “CM Sucks” insult again).

  12. RS says:

    He should be fired for it. Daniel Bryan got “fired” for choking a guy with a tie, right? So for saying an illegal curse word, Cena should get the same punishment. The fact that all he got was a fine proves that WWE plays favorites.
