    This doesn’t violate WWE’s no-compete clause?

He had a contract with MWF that he has to honor. WWE has let people honor their indy dates in the past as well. They also let talent who is sitting at home take indy dates. FYI MWF is not competition to WWE.

Well, the “no-compete clause” is actually an early contract termination clause. That is, if a superstar requests release or WWe “future endeavors” them, they can’t compete for another promotion for 90 days. I think since the debacle with Lesnar though, WWe has been less restrictive and specifies “no-compete” as any promotion that’s on TV (i.e. TNA). It could also be that some wrestlers managed to be cooperative enough with WWe that their contracts and clauses are significantly less restrictive than others.

As far as I know, there’s nothing to keep a WWe performer from wrestling indy dates as long as it doesn’t interfere with their schedule. It’s not something you’ll see someone doing very often as working a regular schedule for WWe is taxing enough without pursuing other work. Chances are this will be DBD’s last indy date as long as he is with WWe.
