WWE attorney comments on TNA using ECW theme

Newsday’s Alfonso Castillo recently contacted WWE attorney Jerry McDivitt for comment regarding TNA’s Hardcore Justice PPV this Sunday featuring an all ECW-theme.

McDivett said,

“The WWE is sole owner of the ECW marks, and as with all of WWE’s intellectual property it will be vigorously protected. TNA acts at its peril if it infringers upon WWE’s rights.”

As of this week, WWE has made no attempts to get the event shut down due to copyright issues.

  1. I thought they were using "This Is Extreme!".

  2. Matt says:

Unless there was an ECW pay per view called Hardcore Justice , I would think there is nothing that the WWE could actually do. They are not calling the group of wrestlers ECW either. They are calling the faction EV 2.0 for extreme version 2.0.

  3. Mimuran says:

eh, WWE shouldn’t have to do anything mainly because this pay per view is gonna BOMB worst than pearl harbor. It probably will do better than the dismal numbers TNA gets, but that’s not saying much haha.
EV 2.0….edgy lol! Nothing more revolutionizing than a bunch of old fellers past their prime.
