– Hector is part of the large Guerrero wrestling family and often competed alongside his brothers and nephews throughout his career
– On January 13, 1978, Hector & Chavo Guerrero defeated Black Gordman & Goliath to win the NWA Americas Tag Team Titles
– On February 10, 1978, Guerrero defeated The Canadian to win the NWA Americas Heavyweight Title
– On May 26, 1978, Guerrero & Black Gordman defeated Ron Bass & Roddy Piper to win the NWA Americas Tag Team Titles
– On June 30, 1978, Guerrero defeated Moondog Lonnie Mayne to regain the NWA Americas Heavyweight Title
– On January 5, 1979, Guerrero made his Japanese debut, defeating Kantaro Hoshino
– On May 11, 1979, Guerrero won his third NWA Americas Tag Team Title reign, teaming with Barry Orton to defeat The Twin Devils
– On June 29, 1979, Hector & Mando Guerrero defeated The Twin Devils to win the NWA Americas Tag Team Titles. They would lose and regain them the next month
