– Gray began his career as ‘Cody Steele’
– On August 11, 2004, Steele appeared on TNA Xplosion, losing to Abyss
– In November 2004, Steele made two WWE appearances, losing to Muhammad Hassan and Kurt Angle
– On May 14, 2005, Steele defeated Jeff Black to retain the PWX Heavyweight Title
– On June 5, 2005, Steele defeated Kris Chambers to retain the PWX Heavyweight Title
– In 2006, Gray repackaged himself as ‘Cody Deaner’, a redneck gimmick
– On September 24, 2006, Deaner defeated PD Skillz to win the PWX X-Division Title, but immediately lost it to Reck
– On November 18, 2006, Deaner defeated Hayden Avery to win the GCW Ontario Title
– On December 28, 2006, Deaner again defeated Avery to retain the GCW Ontario Title
– On April 7, 2007, Deaner, Brodie Lee, Larry Sweeney & Cloudy defeated Cheech, Colin Olsen, Jimmy Olsen & Chip Stetson in a War Games Match to win the NWA Upstate Title for Lee
